Salman's Veer inspired by Taras Bulba
Now that the promos of Anil Sharma's 'Veer', the story of which has been written by its leading man, Salman Khan, have been unveiled, it has also been unveiled that the film's story has been inspired by the film 'Taras Bulba', which was made in 1962, starring Tony Curtis and Yul Brynner.
Salman has admitted that the film made such an impression on him that he was inspired to write 'Veer' setting it in Pre Independence India. The film's story was written many years ago and it took a while before the actor's dreams of making a film on it were realized. It was only when he met producer Vijay Galani that matters started moving. The actor even recently arranged a screening for his father, veteran script writer Salim Khan of the erstwhile Salim Javed fame. Salim saw the rushes of the film and is believed to have been quite impressed by the manner in which the father son relationship has been handled in the movie. His words of praise have meant a lot to Salman, who is believed to have turned to him for help during the writing and making of the movie. The making of the movie has be riddled with quite a few controversies, to one time even hinting at a strong rift between Salman, Galani and Anil Sharma. But all is well, according to Salman and the film is set to release on January 22, 2010.
