What is your character all about in the film 'All The Best'?
My character in the film is called Jhanvi and she runs a run down gym, which is almost falling apart, it is a broken gym, but that is an ancestral gym that has come to her from her husband's side, and since she has to run the house she runs the gym, cons people to join the gym and tells them that she will make them fit. Jhanvi does not lie too much and does not believe in taking short cuts, she is an intelligent girl, who can handle situations and come up with solutions in situations where people are in trouble. So, that's the essential crux what Jhanvi is all about.
Since your character runs a gym and is a health freak, as you are in real life, is this character an extension of your persona in real life?
It is not an extension at all because the movie is a complete mad cap comedy, a situational entertainer, where the fact is that Jhanvi has a gym, I don't run a gym in real life, but yes I am a fitness enthusiast and I do believe in keeping healthy and I think that is the only similarity between me and Jhanvi. She has interest in the business of fitness but she does it as she has no choice but I do it as I personally like to keep fit.
Did you manage to give fitness tips to people on the sets?
Well, actually everybody on the sets was pretty fit already, starting from my director Rohit, who works out pretty early in the morning, before we start working. My co star Ajay and his entire team, the people who work with him, they all work out, me and my team work out, besides that even Mugdha used to work out once in a while but her team used to work out regularly. So, it was a team of very fitness conscious people, everyone was fit and eating right and working out at the same time, so there was no question of me giving tips at all.
How was your experience with your co stars?
It was a fantastic experience with my so stars because I know Ajay from before. He is a friend. Sanju and I have done a lot of films together and we have mutual respect for each other. There is a high degree of respect I have for him. I have worked with Fardeen before on 'No Entry', which was a good experience as we had loads of fun during the filming of 'No Entry', which was a tremendous block buster. I have even worked with Rohit, as I was a part of his first film 'Zameen'. The only person I was new to was Mugdha. It was actually a well known group as everyone knew each other and was in sync with each other's role, so the work atmosphere was quite good and it helped all of us perform better.
Is your character Jhanvi close to your character Bobby from 'No Entry'?
No! Jhanvi and Bobby are like poles apart. The stories have no similarity so you cannot compare the characters also because Jhanvi is a married woman, running a house and managing the family gym, while Bobby is an entertainer, who does it all for the money. They are completely different characters with no similarities.
What kind of roles would you like to try next?
I would like to do a little bit of action because I have not done any action yet. And I think I am fit enough to train and do some hard core action.
How has been your experience with Rohit?
I think Rohit is a fantastic director, who knows what he is making, who knows what his audience wants to see through his films, he has got tremendous clarity on his dialogues, screenplay, how he wants to execute songs etc. So, he has a take on everything, to be a director you have to have your vision clear as to what you want in your film, and according to me he has got all the clarity, you can ask him any question and he has got an answer. There is no confusion at any point in time, so I guess that makes you very comfortable on the sets. When your director is clear, the characters are all very comfortable and he is the kind of director who does not leave anything on anyone, he is hands on and does ten different things at the same time. And at the same time he is a fitness enthusiast who plays sports to keep fit which are like the additional pluses about Rohit.
What is 'All the Best…Fun Begins', all about?
I think the film talks a lot about fun, hence the title 'All the Best…Fun Begins', and I think we are going to reflect fun as we actually had a lot of fun on the sets while making the film. I think the only message you are going to get through the film is have a lot of fun.
