Bollywood has just proved to be right. One of the thickest bonds in Bollywood with films like ‘Main Hoo Na’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’ being SRK and Farah Khan has recently gone bitter. But what is the reason behind this infamous Khan split?
Sampurn wire sources found the reason behind the split of this extraordinary duo. As already known that Farah was keen on casting Shahrukh in ‘Tees Maar Khan’ but because Shahrukh could not find time and Farah could not afford waiting forever finally decided to cast Akshay in the film. It seems this did not go down too well with SRK and Farah had to bear the repercussions.
Farah went to SRK to make him aware of her interest in remaking the old blockbuster ‘Satte Pe Satta’ which failed to interest SRK. After hearing Farah for a while, SRK finally said a firm ‘no’ to and showcased his disinterest in the film. Farah had already approached Raj Sippy’s son Mintoo to buy the copyrights of the film and he willingly accepted the proposal. Shahrukh reasoned saying that he did not want to do a remake of Mr. Bachchan’s films to which Farah retaliated saying that he had done the remake of ‘Don’. Shahrukh did not really like this reaction and the conversation ended calmly with Farah leaving his company.
He has also refused to do Shirish Kunder’s film and showed disinterest in ‘The Zoya Factor’ based on a novel by Anuj Chauhan which Shirish was suppose to direct for his production house. This news will definitely be disappointing for the audiences who loved watching the dynamic duo together!
No doubt, Shahrukh has some extra ordinary charm which works well with the international audiences and continues to create magic even after two months after the release of his latest movie. The film which talks about the treatment given to the Muslims after the 9/11 terror attack has created some kind of nostalgia in Egypt which has led to the making of a record of one million pounds in the first four weeks of its release.
According to the popular Egyptian opinion it is an extra ordinary film which is almost like a huge favour on the Muslims as said by the Media Pandit Khalid Mutassir. It was a very brave attempt by KJO to have made such a movie on such a controversial topic.
Karan has tried to get this film as much global exposure as possible and has also taken it to the Cannes film festival. His dear friend SRK and lucky charm Kajol have sure proved to work some magic with this film. The next film to be screened in Egypt will be Kabir Khan’s New York which is co-incidentally on the same subject.
In his latest Q+A session Shahrukh clarified (for the umpteenth time) the title of his upcoming film Ra.One:
ra.one means random access version one, will understand when u see the film
but also supplied the name of one of the characters:
the superhero is called g.one.
Presumably this is the character that SRK plays as:
i am the hero in ra.one
Other filmi tidbits: SRK has nothing scheduled with Yashji or Kajol right now; Ra.One is the only film he is currently working on – filming for Don 2 will start in a few months. A poignant fact – SRK says he “started to act to get over sadness.”
In response to repeated pleas from fans that he give up smoking, the actor replied that he has been smoking since the age of 27 and that he wants to quit, “but then we dont always get wot we want ha ha”.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan will not be present when his side takes on Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings in a must win encounter for teams Tuesday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
"No, I won't come to Chennai for the match. Think the team needs to introspect and play without my interference...emotional or physical, " the superstar tweeted Monday.
The Knight Riders have not been consistent enough in their campaign this year and are now ranked sixth with 10 points from 11 matches with a poor net run rate of -0.417.
Shah Rukh is worried about that.
"I think our main issue is winning consecutive games. We haven't since the first two. Momentum and consistence amiss, " Shah Rukh said on the social networking site.
Shah Rukh, who is busy shooting for his forthcoming film "Ra. One", also feels that only praying for his team's success will not work. Performance on the field is the only mantra for the Knights.
"Ha ha... someone said better way to pray at KKR matches will help...I don't think so...I think better play at KKR matches will help our cause, " he said.
The Knight Riders need to win all three of their remaining matches to stay in contention for a semi final berth.
With Mumbai Indians making the semi-finals for the first time in IPL history Sunday after mauling the Rajasthan Royals, the only team not to feature in the semis ever is the Knight Riders.
His aching back and shoulder surgery created national headlines. Shah Rukh Khan, though, is now battling a new health scare.
Reportedly, SRK is a wee worried over his celeb knees as they're plaguing him with recurring pain! Says a close source, "Shah Rukh is doing some high energy action for his home production 'Ra.One' and he needs to be physically fit to pull them off. 'Ra.One' is a super hero film and SRK's character has several high risk stunts to perform in the movie. SRK's hoping that the exercises provided by the Kolkata Knight Riders' physiotherapist will fix his knee problem." Pity, SRK's on a painful footing.
After a number of hurdles, Shah Rukh Khan will finally be working with Vidhu Vinod Chopra on a film.
Vidhu has wanted to do a film with Shah Rukh for years now and each time, things didn't fall into place. Vidhu wanted SRK in Kareeb, then in 1942 – A Love Story, and even Munnabhai MBBS and 3 Idiots but something or the other went wrong each time. They even had a fall out after SRK couldn't do 3 Idiots.
Shah Rukh, who had agreed to do 3 Idiots, pulled out of the film when Vidhu condemned his film, Paheli. Vidhu then went on to say that Shah Rukh was trying to get Rajkumar Hirani to work for his production house, Red Chilies. This led to further animosity between them.
The troubles seemed to have ended when Shah Rukh and Vidhu came together in June last year during the disagreement between producers-distributors and multiplex owners. According to sources, there is no hostility between them anymore and they are now on good terms.
Now that the two are friends again, it had to be marked with them doing a film together. Titled Ferrari Ki Sawaari, the film is about a young boy who aspires to play cricket at Lords after he is inspired by an Indian cricket legend's Ferrari. It is loosely inspired by a bestseller novel.
The film had initially been offered to Aamir Khan but he turned the offer down as he wanted to work on the post- production of his home production movies – Dhobi Ghaat, Peepli Live and Delhi Belly.
Shah Rukh has agreed to star in the movie. It will be directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, a longtime associate of Rajkumar Hirani.
Actor Shah Rukh Khan is on a roll again, what with his IPL team - Kolkata Knight Riders - making him a proud owner now and again. Of course, compared to last year's dismal performance, this year has been a remarkable one in comparison for the KKR's and deserves celebration!
However, Shah Rukh Khan though attending post-match IPL parties once in away, won't pop the bubbly too soon. He insists he'll celebrate in a unique way if his team was to win the League this year! "I'll dance naked to my song ‘Dard-e-disco’ in the DY Patil staidum," he said, "if my team will make it to the finals and win!"
Lalit Modi, Chairman, IPL, was all smiles at this statement of Shah Rukh's. "He's a great owner and highly possessive about his team members. I won't be surprised if he actually sticks to his word about dancing in the nude if they were to win," he laughed.
Wonder if SRK needed to watch his words before uttering them... But the women, we're sure, are now hollering for KKR a little louder than otherwise!
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan loves his celebrity status and admits he would never want to live without it even for a few moments.
“I don’t want to be anonymous… I’m very honest about that. I love being recognised, I love people liking me, I love the fact that people scream when I go out, I think I’ll miss all that when it’s taken away, and I don’t even think about it,” said Shah Rukh.
“I think that’s why I work harder every year, every day, every month and every moment. I’m not standing and counting the people outside my house, but I don’t want them to lessen,” he added.
Even though the 44-year-old never wants people’s focus to shift from him, he says inherently he is a shy person.
“I’m basically shy and I have to really prepare myself to go and let myself go on a set. There are certain things I started, I tried them and then I started feeling very awkward doing them … like laughing on screen. I find it extremely odd to laugh on screen. I find it extremely odd to use bad language so I don’t do a film like that… kissing and love making (on screen) is the other thing, because I just find it odd,”
said the actor who is currently working on his film Ra.One.
It's steel blue, crafted of reinforced latex and costs… a mere crore! Shah Rukh Khan has earned the right to beam as the owner of the costliest body suit in B town history, styled expressly for his role of a super hero in the Anubhav Sinha directed 'Ra.One'.
The special outfit, fitted with micro computer circuitry, was created for him in Los Angeles and SRK has unforgettable memories associated with it's fabrication.
The winning 'MNIK' star was required to stand in a 12x3 chamber, when the warm latex liquid would be slowly released until it reached his neck. Once the mould solidified, it was slit from the side and gently peeled off his celeb body. The process took close to an hour. A concealed zipper was used to join the two separated halves together.
Says a close insider, "The body suit is meant to provide both protection and flexibility. It acts as a tough exterior to minimise external injury, while it is flexible enough not to hamper movement while performing stunts."
Tough hide, Mr. Superstar
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan Tuesday urged Indian filmmakers 'to learn from Hollywood' and offered a three-point prescription which could help the globalization of Bollywood movies.
Speaking at the inaugural session of 'FICCI FRAMES-2010', Shah Rukh said that Indian filmmakers must learn screenplay writing techniques, visual effects and discipline in doing movie business from Hollywood.
'However, learning Hollywood screenplay and technology is not about losing the intrinsic quality of our stories. We must maintain our own cinematic individuality,' he said.
Shah Rukh advocated formation of alliances with Hollywood to help the Indian film industry nurture its potentially different story format, the musical-drama format and 'make us travel around the world'.
Shah Rukh emphasized that 'the sooner Indian filmmakers realize that screenplay is not an art form but a science, the faster Indian movies will globalize and Hollywood can exchange that know-how with India'.
'The big investment we are looking for from Hollywood is the training of mechanics for running machines for visual effects. We need to develop people who can make us our own cheaper, better and faster softwares for filmmaking and have a special branch of trained visual effect teams and talent here,' Shah Rukh added.
Stressing on discipline, Shah Rukh said that the Indian film industry needs to adopt from Hollywood the discipline and organisation with which it does its business.
'This organisation already exists in other Indian businesses, but is woefully lacking in the business of films,' he pointed out.
'This (organisation) also needs to filter down to the film distribution systems based on their models and learn the science of marketing films,' Shah Rukh added.
According to Shah Rukh, the knowledge that Hollywood could bring to Bollywood was a lot more essential than the investments it is already making in India.
'The time has come for having a symbiotic relationship where we can both feed off the knowledge that we have instead of just the movies. The economics will follow. Then, Bollywood and Hollywood together can have a global audience watching our movies,' Shah Rukh said.
Even as the Women's Reservation Bill grabs national headlines, Shah Rukh Khan has been tweeting merrily that he's gonna implement it on his cine sets too!
Reportedly, SRK has sounded out his coterie that he's desirous of having a one third majority of women folk in his film teams too!
Khan's take is that too many hairy, sweaty guys ruin the creativity bit at a movie shoot. And 33 per cent members of the fairer sex would amply compensate, thank you.
Guess, the unfair sex are all ears now…
Now this is what we call “news” which is really getting the antennas stand right up with all attention reserved for what next is really in the offing. Believe it or not but a major Hollywood-Bollywood collaboration is right up in the anvil and two of the bigger superstars from different ends of the world are all set to share screen space. The film in question is Xtrme City and the men in question – hold your breath – Shah Rukh Khan and Leonardo Di Caprio.
Sources say, “The film is aiming for a late 2010 shoot in Mumbai, New York and the Persian Gulf. The makers are hoping for a 2011 release. As with many Bollywood films, Xtrme City will integrate thriller, drama and comedy elements. The movie will be family-friendly though there would certainly be elements of violence. However, sex will be downplayed, though there would be quintessential song and dance routines.”
Can’t wait for the movie to release..
Mumbai, March 9 (IANS) International R&B singer Akon, who is here to record songs for Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Ra.One', says he is a big fan of the Bollywood superstar and that he will not only have shows in India during his world tour but would also do more work here soon.
'I am a big fan of Shah Rukh. I am very familiar with Shah Rukh's work. I am meeting Kareena (Kapoor) for the first time today,' Akon told reporters in a press conference here Tuesday.
He is not only singing but also composing song for 'Ra.One'.
'I am also composing. You know, I will give him (Shah Rukh) a couple of versions of the song, the way I do it. And I will also integrate it with the traditional way the Bollywood films are done. I will give them options and they will decide, which one to use in the film,' said Akon.
Produced by 'Red Chilies Entertainment', 'Ra.One' will see Shah Rukh playing a superhero.
Asked if he is planning to do more work with Indian music directors, he said: 'You will see me doing more things in India soon.'
The singer insists he finds African entertainment culture quite similar to what he sees in India.
'You know the tradition in Africa is not different from India. There is same type of entertainment going on, the difference is only in language. I always wanted to expand my horizon, explore and enjoy,' said Akon who will soon go on a world tour.
He is looking forward to performances in India as well.
'The world tour is coming soon and India is one of my biggest market so I will do number of shows here,' said Akon.
The singer dedicated two lines from his song 'Beautiful' to actress Kareena Kapoor, who was present at the event. She plays female lead in 'Ra.One'.
Sexy SRK with International R&B singer Akon sang his popular number Smack That at a party hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, as it was the Bollywood superstar’s favourite song. Akon might lend his voice for a song in Shah Rukh’s upcoming sci-fi film RA.1.
“My kids love him, I love him. I want you all to give him the biggest welcome into the country that anyone has ever had,”
said Shah Rukh who danced with his favourite singer on the stage.
Juhi Chawla, co-owner, and Saurav Ganguly, captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, were also present.
With increasing amount of pressure from various Muslim religious groups, SRK has decided to annul his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders sponsorship association with Lux Cozi brand. A Muslim group had issued a fatwa against SRK for associating with Lux Cozi, who were responsible for the death of Muslim graphic designer Rizwanur Rahman, who had married his daughter Priyanka Todi. Syed Noor-ur-Rehman Barkati, Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque in Kolkatta talking about SRK’s association with Lux Cozi said, “He has lots of money. Why is he becoming the brand ambassador of a company owned by such a controversial man? I am issuing a fatwa to all Hindus and Muslims to boycott the movie.” KKR released a statement yesterday thar read, “Respecting the sentiments of Kolkata and people of Bengal, both Lux Industries and KKR have decided to put their association on hold until issues are resolved and the sensitivities of the aggrieved group are adequately addressed.”
