If Kareena Kapoor shells out Rs 3 lakh to Chanderi village to illumine the Madhya Pradesh weaver's village with electricity via a solar energy plant, Deepika Padukone isn't lagging behind.
Reportedly, Padukone will brighten up the black nights of Ambegaon, a village in the interiors of Maharashtra. The initiative taken by her is part of the Greenathon campaign and the ace star has opted to adopt the village, after careful consideration.
Discloses Deepika in a tabloid inter phew, "Ambegaon generally faces a blackout after sunset. So the resident villagers cannot do anything much after it is dark. With electricity, they will be able to read, write and manage other tasks."
On the anvil: Deepika plans to "personally visit Ambegaon in the near future."
