Neil Nitin Mukesh is sure going places! The suave actor, who debuted with the critically acclaimed Johnny Gaddar, followed it up with commendable performances in New York and Jail.

He's making news in tinsel town – be it for his recent breakup with his childhood sweetheart, his growing proximity to Asin or bagging a lucrative endorsement deal. And the latest revelation is that Neil will be composing the music for his forthcoming film!

That Neil comes from a family of acclaimed musicians is a well-known fact. He is the son of singer Nitin Mukesh and grandson of legendary singer Mukesh Mathur. Mukesh Mathur was one of Bollywood's top playback singers.

He, along with Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey, dominated Indian film playback music from the 1950s to the 1970s. His father, Nitin Mukesh has also sung for Hindi films like Chandni, Tezaab, Kranti etc.

With such a lineage, Neil was expected to follow in their footsteps and croon for films but the lad chose to act instead. He has always been interested in music and his turning music director was a natural progression.

“I play the piano regularly and I love composing music. Some of my music director friends have liked my compositions and they always encourage me not to give up on that, ” says the handsome actor on being quizzed about his new role!

His upcoming films include Lafange Parinday, Italian Job and Saat Khoon Maaf. Neil has also directed the action scenes of an innerwear ad lately. Looks like he's dabbling in acting, composing and directing, all at once. Way to go, we say!

"There could be no better place than India. I would love to explore India. There are so many things to see here, " he added.
Meanwhile, the actor is busy shooting three films -- Pradeep Sarkar's "Lafenge Parindey" that also stars Deepika Padukone, Vishal Bharadwaj's "Saat Khoon Maaf" with Priyanka Chopra and a film with Abbas-Mustan.

Neil Nitin Mukesh has made a mark for himself by choosing strong character-driven roles in "Johnny Gaddar", "New York" and "Jail". But now the sensitive actor promises his fans will get to see him in a completely romantic role.
"I like character-oriented and character-driven films a lot. There needs to be a certain meaning to the film that you do and that's how I choose my roles, " Neil, who was in the capital to launch travel magazine Lonely Planet India, told in an interview.
Asked if he would do romantic roles, Neil replied, "You can see romance in all my films, although it's true that that romance is a little different from other movies. But soon you will be seeing me in a complete romantic role as I am on the verge of signing one."
Despite coming from a musical background, Neil ventured into acting. Instead of taking the routine route, he made his debut in a negative role in the crime thriller "Johnny Gaddar". Though the film didn't do well at the box office, Neil certainly won critical acclaim for his performance.
Last year, he wowed the audiences as an undercover cop in "New York" that also had Katrina Kaif and John Abraham. In the same year he featured in Madhur Bhandarkar's critically acclaimed "Jail".
Neil admits he does feel the pressure to keep up the reputation of his grandfather, legendary singer Mukesh, and his dad, Nitin Mukesh.
"There is no doubt about the fact that I feel pressurised. It is very important as it took them (granddad and dad) decades of hard work and struggle to build that name and reputation. But it is a good pressure that gives me strength to give my best."
Neil recently did a crash course in taekwondo in Bangkok. He will be seen doing some dare-devil stunts in an action advertisement for an innerwear brand. It was being said that he not only performed but also directed those stunts.
"I won't say I directed it, but I coordinated it correctly because it's a double role act with difficult action sequence so you need to get it right in your mind. It was fun and came out really well."
So, with acting, singing and directing, does Neil plan to follow the footsteps of Farhan Akhtar?
"I don't know. Let's see and let's hope that I get to come a little closer to him. He is a superbly talented human being."

Neil Nitin Mukesh who recently broke up with his childhood sweetheart Priyanka has found the perfect recipe to nurse his sore heart. The Bollywood hunk is keeping himself busy in the company of sizzling hotties and the latest addition to the his list is Asin.

The two were spotted together at a dinner date and according to some sources the chemistry between the two suggested that Asin and Neil are not merely friends but more than that.

“A few days ago, he went with Deepika Padukone to watch a film at Juhu. Last Friday, he was spotted in a suburban five-star restaurant with Asin. The two looked very, very comfortable with each other. They came together, they left together, ” the source claims.

When asked by a leading daily, if he is dating Asin, Neil said, “I am not dating anybody. I am single and enjoying my single status.”

But Neil confirmed his dinner date and told that he and Asin had been longing to have dinner together for some time but could find time only last Friday.

Talking about his outing with Deepika, he said, “She is a good friend and a co-star in Pradeep Sarkar's film. She and I went to see Karthik Calling Karthik, where she plays the female lead. Big deal, man!”
